that Evan got some dinosaurs for Christmas???
But I’m most proud that he can tell you who bought him which one – from the smallest to the biggest! He even remembers which one Megan gave him & she didn’t even really give it to him! I love that!!
I like to think I’m pretty good at it, but I’ve come across one thing that I just can’t see to multi-task. I want to swish my mouthwash while putting on my moisturizer. The results never end up good. Is it just me??
I can’t believe it’s already January 17th!! My last post was about Thanksgiving – it’s a good thing no one was holding their breath waiting for an updated post! We’ve had Christmas, New Years, my brothers’ birthday and Evan’s tubes since I’ve been on here last. So to say I’ve done a miserable job at posting is an understatement! I’ve even been pretty lousy at reading blogs these day too! But BOTH little ones are spending the night out this Sunday since Monday is no school (oh how I love have family work in the school system) … so my goal is to get caught up on ALOT of things … this being one.
I have been keeping up with one blogger – Kelly. I found her through my sister the beginning of last year. She tried 5 years to conceive her first child and after years of disappointment she became pregnant this past year. I followed along with her blog (along with COUNTless others) and was so excited for her yesterday when she went into the hospital to be induced with her baby girl – Harper. Unfortunately Harper is in very critical condition & needs LOTS of prayers. Her mom & entire family is trusting in God’s plan. Please pray for her … she has lots of monogrammed dresses to come home & wear!!
We had a busy but fun weekend. Of course, a busy weekend probably sums up most this time of year – right? On Saturday we had some good friends over. They actually all started out as “Pep’s friends”, but now most of them are married & have kids so they’re my friends too! It was fun to all get together and also alot different with kids & babies around.
Sunday was jam packed fun … or mostly just jammed packed. We had our annual “Lovett Family Christmas Party”. It’s always the 2nd Sunday of December. This year apparently all the old ladies were tired of cooking so we went here:
Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like the Golden Corral! In case you’re wondering – and I know you’re not – we had some “Order of Business” at this year’s gathering and it was voted that starting next year we would get together on the 2nd Saturday of December – for lunch at Eddie & Laurann’s and it will be catered – everyone will just chip in of course. Don’t you love those kinds of family gatherings! You have “business” and it involves planning for next year … can’t we just enjoy the one we’re in!!!
After a good ole’ meal (if you like that kind of buffet thing), Pep & I went on a movie date to see 4 Christmases. I can sum that one up with “strange” and “disappointing”. We laughed, but each time we were also thinking what in this world?!?! Nine times out of 10, we’re pretty disappointed when it comes to those Romantic Comedy-types. Why can’t they just make a good movie??
After the movie we zipped off to Pep’s company Christmas Party. It was really nice – the food was good, company was pleasant, and the door prizes were – GREAT. Pep won this:
Isn’t that awesome!!!! Yes – it is! It’s a 42″ LCD/ HDTV Flat Screen – yipee!!
Then on our way home, we decided to put out a fire – literally!! Our neighborhood holds an annual fundraiser called “Night of Lights”. Votive candles line the streets – well, one of those fell over a few houses down from ours. Fortunately we & another neighbor pulled in when we did. Apparently the grass was pretty dry & it started spreading pretty fast. They got it out before it got to the pinestraw.
So after all the excitement I can’t wait to see what this weekend holds!
I still don’t like the latest version of your Chicken Salad Sandwich, but now your limited time Peppermint Chocolate Shake – now this I like a lot!
I don’t understand them. It’s basically a known fact that you wait in the waiting room to then wait in the Exam Room until the Dr. finally decides to come. So why do most places not have magazines in the Exam Rooms. Do I just go to really stupid places?? My Dr. offices have always had a poor selection of out-dated magazines, but any Pediatrician we’ve ever been to has nothing – absolutely NOTHING! What is up with that. And I feel like we’ve been to plenty to test that theory … Evan’s had 5 different Pediatrician’s in his 3 short little years & goodness gracious poor little Megan has already been to the Dr. 7 times in 7 weeks. It would just be nice if there were some Curious George books to read or something:)
Does your Dr. have anything to pass the time??
Do you double check your receipts? As much as possible I try to, but more times than not I’m usually trying to get in & out of a store before any freak-out may occur. I try to watch as items are scanned & that works out pretty good if you have only a few items but otherwise that can be pretty tricky.
But in a matter of just a few weeks I was overcharged by $25 … and that’s just the times I actually caught it!!! TARGET overcharged me $13!!!! On three separate items the cashier charged me for a more than one quantity when only one was purchased. KROGER overcharged me $5 on some formula that was on sale. And OLD NAVY overcharged me $7 for some pants that were on sale.
The sad part is that I only recovered the $7 from Old Navy. With gas shortages & prices, the $13 wasn’t worth it because it wasn’t my “normal” Target. And by the time I realized the formula didn’t ring up right I was just to lazy (or busy) to chase it down.
Do you think it was just a case of getting in the wrong line a few times to many this month or do you think that’s normal. What if we’re overcharged by as much (or as little) as $25 every month … It’s my money & I want it now!!! (to quote a line from TitleMax).
But here’s a tip … always check your deli meat. One time KROGER ran me up for $79 for 1lb of turkey instead of $7.90!!!! Now that one I most definitely got refunded!!!
Evan was up at 6:30am yesterday morning … absolutely ready to go!! So by 9:30 we were out the door with my “to do list” in hand. First stop was Babies R Us for a new table/chair set for Evan’s room & a new baby monitor. Of course – they were out of stock on both! So we went across the street to Toys R Us because they “should at least have” the table/chair set. Nope – they’re out of both too.
Note to self on the Toys R Us trip … oh my goodness, never go there with a child!!! After every aisle I had to stop & call Evan because he was looking at something “we NEED at our house”!!
After a stop at the mall & a ride on the merry-go-round, we got back to the house with absolutely nothing accomplished!!
This is how Evan’s first minature golf hole went … and EVERY other 17 holes in the game!!! If you think it takes patience to watch this video, just imagine getting through all 18 holes!!!
