Dinosaur nests

August 7, 2009 at 7:43 am (Family Recipe Fridays)

This weekend for Evan’s party, I’m pulling out one of my family’s quick & easy stand-by deserts.  It’s the best of all worlds – cheap, quick, and yummy (the bowl & the actual final result!!).  We grew up calling them “Haystacks“, I’m certain they have other names I just can’t think of any of those right now.

This weekend however, they’ll be Dinosaur Egg Nests!!

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 (12-oz) pkg. butterscotch chips, melted

1 lg. can (or bag) chow mein noodles

1 c. extra chunky peanut butter

Here’s what you do:

Mix all ingredients.  Drop on cold wax paper-covered cookie sheet.  Let harden in refrigerator (or freezer works fine too, if you’re always in a hurry like me).  Then enjoy!  Store leftovers in the fridge.

For the Dinosaur Nests version, I’ll be dropping jelly beans or something similiar in the center.  And then Evan will be anxiously awaiting for them to hatch.  Gonna have to break his poor little heart on that one!
